Push

On my quest to becoming a Pilates instructor, I work with a few different teachers. They all give me something different, with their own styles and experiences. All and all, it provides a richer experience.

I have nicknamed one of those teachers, affectionately, the “Bootcamp lady”. She’s tough, really tough sometimes. Her standards are very high and she expects the same from others. She used to be a ballet dancer and what not so I can only imagine the type of training and dedication she went through. I wouldn’t be surprised if she thinks she’s actually kind of a softy with me.

Pull

I’ve been sitting at a desk for decades. So, didn’t get the fluency of movements, strength and flexibility of those who grew up making acrobatics at the same rhythm I made reports. Having said that, she did have her share of pain and injury and Pilates was a way to regain the amazing things she can do. She’s fit, beautiful and elegant in all her ways – hence the “lady” in the nickname. Even when she slips a curse or two, she manages to still sound classy. How she manages to do that, I don’t know.

Anyway, she turned my world upside down by going through some of the classic Mat exercises. They are intermediate level so they are not the first ones you learn but they are also not overly complicated.

Mat Exercises:

  • One Leg Kick
  • Double Kick
  • Neck Pull
  • Side Kick Laying
